    Its a fun game.

    I think a lot of people are disappointed because they expected something like Star Wars, but its actually more like 2001 Space Odyssey. It focused on being more “realistic” as opposed to science fantasy. It does have a lot of loading screens though.

      It’s both realistic and not realistic in almost equal measure.

      The loading screens are weird. Like there are several places with both elevators and stairs leading from one part to the other, like Cydonia. Stairs are seamless, elevator is a loading screen. Why?

        Neon is like that as well, I think the load covers up the complete restart of all the graphics in the new location, vs jumping there which allows the game to render the scene more gradually as you approach the same spot.

      For me the disappointment was just that the game brought nothing new. The jump from oblivion to skyrim was huge, it was paradigm shifting and people stole those ideas in their own games. it influences games even today and I don’t think you could talk about the history and growth of gaming qt the time without including skyrim.

      But starfield, at least what little I played it (I may go back after mods get more time to improve) doesn’t really iterate on anything, it’s skyrim but guns in space. It feels derivative and i don’t think they learned from the mistakes of skyrim made in the same way skyrim learned from oblivion. That doesn’t make it bad, but it does make the game feel old and that is disappointing even if i saw it coming when they announced they would keep using the old engine. I don’t think many people will remember the game a few decades from now.

        I just do not understand that sentiment. I am 150 hours in and still doing new questlines. It’s a very rich and complete game and I have had very few bugs. I can’t imagine actually playing it and thinking ‘this isn’t done’. What are you possibly comparing it to?

          I’m not comparing it to one specific game but I’ve been playing video games for close to 40 years…and this was not ready for release. The “cities” are empty and lifeless. The main characters are bland, un-engaging, and feel like emotionless copies of one another. The voice lines and dialog outcomes do not enhance the immersion but take away from it because the choices have no effect on the situations. I’ve have to revert to older saves because followers would no longer follow or stay assigned to post/ship. Inventory management is abysmal especially if you’ve ever tried selling a ship lol. Outposts & supply lines are broken and need to be “rebuilt” often just to work as intended…But that’s ok because there is nothing to do with the resources you’ve been stockpiling. The skill perks have no originality and are shallow even by Bethesda standards. Want to sell items at the Crimson Fleet? That’ll be 4 load screens for you to jump through…I could go on but I’m tired of doing the beta testing work

          There is so much potential for Starfield but this is not a complete game and should have been pushed back. This shouldn’t be considered ‘standard’ for releases; it is ‘early access’ in its current state.

            You’re describing a bad game. And it’s your prerogative to think Starfield is bad. But it’s not unfinished.

    One of those sales was for me. I don’t enjoy it but honestly haven’t given it much of a chance. But then again I don’t want to put in much effort to enjoy my leisure time and parts of this game are boring to me because I haven’t immersed in the story. I don’t care about the characters at all and I don’t want to for some reason.

    I’ll try it again at some point. Meanwhile I started a new game of New Vegas.
