Why? Jury nullification is a thing for a reason, and from my cursory understanding that’s what happened here.
Law is a made up thing that is not real. Juries are important to make sure the CORRECT outcome is achieved.

Laws are what society agreed on and jury is just a handful of idiots with no understanding of those laws.
Society doesn’t make up laws. Rich people do.
