TL:DR I bought a AVI 42 and swapped it for the Premier B01 42 and couldn’t be happier.
Long version: 10 days ago I bought a beautiful Classic AVI 42 Chronograph Corsair Tribute as my first luxury watch. As soon as I got home and as much as I loved it, I couldn’t help notice the things it was missing. I kept looking at my wrist for the date and I originally went in looking for something with an exhibition back.
I briefly looked at the Premier but ruled it out based on cost and because it hadn’t originally made “the list” so I didn’t know anything about it.
After I got home, I was still “shopping watches” and couldn’t really figure out why when it dawned on me that, I’m going to end up with a collection of watches that together would be the perfect watch or I can go back and get “the watch”.
So here we are. I went back and after some brief negotiating my AD agreed to take the AVI back and let me swap for this beauty. I have a bracelet on order as I like the alligator leather strap, but the bracelet is just such a classy and universal look.
Review and comparison: You can see my thoughts on the AVI below. By comparison the Premier wears as though it’s easily 38-40mm. At 1mm thinner and 60g lighter, this watch feels slim and close to the wrist. While I’m also comparing the bracelet AVI to the leather band Premier, the Premier wraps the wrist much better and the crown doesn’t “dig” into my hand. Not that the AVI was painful, but it was apparent.
I love the luminosity of the domed sapphire crystal and being able to see the inner workings of the watch when I interact with it.
The only thing I will note on the Premier. When using the Chronograph and pressing “start” for the first time (I’m not sure the technical term) the reset arm requires a little extra effort and I do wish this was more consistent.
