15·5 days agoPlaying clean while your opponent plays dirty is a guaranteed loss. Idc about protocol if following it means people die and my country crumbles. People too afraid to stick their necks out and get their hands dirty are a major part of the problem at this point.

28·5 days agoI agree but I can also accept that I’m not necessarily capable of understanding a reason why. Something not making sense to me personally doesn’t inherently mean it doesn’t make sense objectively. Maybe I’m lacking context or perspective or I’m ignorant to some important factor. I’m not the arbiter of what makes sense or not and my ego isn’t so big that I think I get to be the one who decides what makes sense and what doesn’t. If a person can explain to me why it’s important to them and it can withstand some poking or prodding that’s good enough for me. Sometimes it’s an understanding problem not an explaining problem. I accept the rules of physics are real but I don’t actually understand them in any depth, it’s the same thing. Humility is important too.

28·6 days agoIn your mid 30s all the pets you and your friends got as your first pets as “adults” die. That first dog for your first place? Dead. That first cat after college? Dead. They all die in the same ~5 years period so you relive your loss through your friends over and over, and dog save you if those happened to be the pets your children were born with… it’s so hard

Shit, At this point we need the tax evader gang to rise up. Like wtf am I even paying federal taxes for at this point?? I live in a deep blue state for a reason and every opportunity to remove federal funding is being taken against us here, I’ve been kicked off my disability benefits (I have cystic fibrosis and I’m post lung transplant with debilitating PTSD from both) I also happen to be a woman who’s country is actively disenfranchising her, yet I’m paying federal taxes? For what?? No taxation without representation and I’m sure as fuck not being represented

11·6 days agoSounds like the same wack ass shit that was going on before the Nazis rose to the top of the shit heap in Germany. The Nazis came out of a cesspool situation just like this with rival gangs splintering and reforming and fighting amongst each other until they were distilled into the Nazi party we know and hate today under a charismatic leader.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to change your IQ?
2·7 days agoThey’re good only for finding deficits. I score well enough across the board, except my sequential memory, like you tell me five numbers then ask me to repeat them back in order a minute later and I cannot do that, basically doesn’t exist. I’m certainly smart enough to get by so I don’t really care about the positive scores but having proof I had a learning disability was critical for me to get the help I needed in school. Being perceived as smart often makes people believe you have to be smart in every possible way. So IQ tests have their uses, but like Steven Hawking said “people who boast about their IQs are losers”

He’s too stupid for word play
