The politics stuff seems more niche than just “left”, but I haven’t dug too deeply into it. There are other active communities if you dig around. Mostly I dig on star trek memes and programmer humor and it’s a good time.

I was always under the impression that the militia bit was because they didn’t want the USA to form a government army. The army instead would be all citizens, armed, that would act in case of a national threat, then like… go back to farming or whatever.

Also most of Quebec doesn’t give a shit about drinking in public places, as long as you don’t do it on the train or the bus.

Went there several times when I worked downtown Toronto. Middlingly good bar. Basic drink selection. Like an Applebee’s in bar form. Weird to see it close though. It was such a fixture.
