The “fediverse” are distributed online social networks using a thing called activity pub. Because they all speak the same protocol they can interact with each other. This is why Mastodon and Lemmy can talk to each other.
BlueSky uses something called AT. AT proto has three things to it where . The pds (I think it’s called) is where you can choose to store your data. Relays aggregate those. Then you have to have a way to view it. In activity pub the first two layers are the same thing and we typically call them “instances”. Running your own relay for AT is wildly expensive and to my knowledge nobody is doing it because of that. Not enough people use their own pds to store data to even really make it worthwhile. The vast majority of BlueSky users are actually using BlueSky itself. Even if you consider the fediverse to be things doing federation, BlueSky isn’t really as federated as they lead you to believe.
Hi, I’m Nicole, but you can call me the fediverse chick!
I misread you as saying pencils are dust free.
You’re just raising the question about why the pencils cost over $100 if all pencils are dust free. What was so special about them when the special pens were so cheap?
It makes more sense if you think of it as enflammable. Indent and indebted at examples of this “in-” prefix. https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/flammable-or-inflammable
The goatee on Sapphire instead has me dying. Never even seen this show but that’s amazing.
I haven’t kissed a boy either, but I call my wife Daddy. Does that count?
Obviously my past experiences have made me who I am, but plenty of neurotypical people are unique and have skills too. I genuinely believe I’d be the same person I am today but “better” if I didn’t have ADHD. I don’t want to sound like a doomer, but it’s genuinely difficult for me to do basic things. The narrative that disabilities are actually super powers is deeply troubling to me. At times it can even feel like toxic positivity.
I’m not trying to say you’re doing anything wrong by describing your ADHD as such. I don’t see a problem with it. I view it similar to the way some people who are deaf don’t want to be able to hear. Nobody can dictate your experience to you. You know what is best for you. Individuals with ADHD saying things like that don’t bother me. What bothers me is when neurotypical people do it or it’s a trend.
I got into an argument with someone about this before. They were using the idea of hyper focus as being a super power. If the planets align and I’m able to hyper focus on what I need to be doing at the time and somehow I don’t need to be doing anything else then sure, it’s a super power. More often it’s me being unable to stop thinking about something I’m fixated on for days. Losing sleep while I think about it. It distracting me from work. It distracting me from friends. Only to just suddenly leave making me wonder why I’m not interested in the thing I had been obsessed with for so long.
Scroll Reverser and Rectangle are the two I use and both are free. I’ve been using them with success since about 2019. I don’t know how needed rectangle is any longer.
I get that. I tend to use dark mode, especially “OLED dark” on my phone because sometimes I’m on it in bed and don’t want to disturb my wife as much (though they are a heavy sleeper).
I’ve used Windows, Mac, and Linux and I can confidently say they all have strange shortcomings in unique ways. I think people who primarily use one or two of them get blind to things like that with the ones they’re familiar with so problems like that in other ones really stick out.
“Hey SnausagesinaBlanket! I’m a producer of Beat Bobby Flay. You’ve been selected to participate! Congratulations! Please let use know your planned dishes and ingredients so we can have them available on our set.”
It’s so crazy to me that ads pay less and subscriptions cost more.
I understand that Lemmy can be viewed as an answer to this question, but it’s not for me. I’m looking for an actual forum, with a sense of community.
The community here is small enough that I’ve started recognizing names.
The whole decentralization aspect of the Feidverse seems great to prevent enshittification, or to prevent a billionaire from buying and tanking the place, but I don’t really see it ever appealing to normal, non tech savvy people.
I don’t understand what the gripe is. You’re already here. The only nuisance is picking an instance. After that, you don’t need to worry about it.
For me it depends on the program. For GitHub I prefer high contrast light mode. Also, I like that GitHub’s high contrast modes aren’t ugly.
On Mac you need a program to make your trackpad and scroll wheel scroll differently from each other.
Same in macOS. Stop hiding “.app”!
Idk, the only people I know who pay for YouTube premium are a queer couple.
