  • Well, I know I’m real, so by virtue, I believe you to be as well.

Do I think I’m smart enough to have been able to come up with a language system of my own that makes sense to me rather than just a bunch of mood grunts? Nope.

The test? My understanding of the test is to see if we can be good people and if we can build a symbiotic relationship with our planet and other planets. It’s been a rocky few millennia for us people, but in spite of how chaotic life has been, it oddly feels like we are all much closer together than in prior generations.

I feel that what we need to do to make things better starts with ourselves. If I’m happy, then I can share my happiness with others. If I hold love in my heart, I can share love for others as well. If I hold anger, judgment, or dislike then those things can tend to spill out, even when that’s not what I would want. Connecting with my roots has helped me to have my heart, rather than being cold and more self-centered.

If we’re in a good spot, we can help our friends, we can help our neighbors, our local communities; we can create a culture of positive change. When everyone’s backs are against the wall, people need community now more than ever.

Taking that step forward every day will help you; for me, it involved making a promise to myself to never stop moving forward. Hydrate yourself often, focus on getting nourishing meals three times a day, building yourself a routine will help, having a cup of coffee each day is beneficial, limit caffeine intake to one or two cups and only before noon, play brown noise in the background to help drown out any rude or critical thoughts or feelings, and low dose melatonin =<1mg for sleeping soundly and peacefully at night helps as well. I recommend visiting a therapist if you can afford it, but invest in yourself today because you are worth it. I spent a decade learning these lessons, but I’ve been thriving more the past few years now :D

  • I don’t think the post was a comment on political violence, but on the real issue of bot farms swaying public opinion.

The ring wing bot farms work by dog piling and being the first ones to conversations online. They set the narrative from the beginning and likely are the ones posting controversial content as well. The impact is that it sways the opinion of low information voters that maybe don’t tune in that often. The goal of these bots though is also to build conformity on the right.

The left wing bot farms work quite differently, from my experience. We on the left are more swayed by sympathy and empathy, so narrative sways us more. These bots push purity tests more than anything. They are preying on our kind hearts, because we will stand in solidarity with those who we hear have been wronged. The goal of these bots is to divide the left so that it may be conquered.

Frankly, I have issues with many of the Democrats in power Federally, but you’ll hear real people, like me, who are advocating for changing the voting system in my state. As changing the voting system will enable third parties to be able to win more, and so the ‘spoiler effect’ doesn’t happen allowing conservatives to win. I think doing ground work locally for third parties, to win city and statewide elections, would matter for pulling the US more left. However, the only way the US changes for the better is by showing up day-in and day-out to push for the positive changes you want to see.

  • The total population is not the total voting population. There was also a pandemic between 2020 and 2024 so I would expect the total amount of eligible voters would be different as a result of the pandemic.

I think that’s an uncharitable takeaway from what I’m talking about to say that the misogyny and racism were the core reasons that Harris got less votes. There were notable other factors that made it a close election, which I mentioned was the case. My point was more that because the margins were that close that those smaller details did matter more.

  • You’re not wrong. Many of them are exposed to propaganda on TikTok and it is a growing issue. Espionage is being done to divide the left and consolidate the right. Just because it’s not as noticeable as the propaganda from the right doesn’t mean that it’s not having subtle effects. If it gets people to disengage or not look out for their best interests then it is effective. All this to say, there is a way to bring about positive change and that has to do with being involved locally.

  • I believe that you are mostly correct, although the actual motivations for these folks are complicated. Some may value a few extra bucks in government support, having social security, and having Medicare programs. So there are some economic reasons they may vote for Democrats on occasion, but their bigotry could get in the way of their best interest.

So, some of those people probably just stay home for election night. While a good chunk may be getting convinced to vote for Republicans if they feel their bigotry is being rewarded.

  • Schumer has seniority in the Senate, which is why many have not tried to primary him.

Seniority is a big deal in the Senate in terms of committee assignments. Just because AOC could replace Schumer’s seat, it does not mean that she will gain the current amount of power that he has for a long time. Now it may well be worth replacing his seat just so the current spokesperson for Dems in the Senate changes, but it’s not going to be AOC for a while.

An alternative is for her to grow to become the Speaker of the House, which she could do by continuing to stay in her current role over the next several decades.

Otherwise, she may look at a run for Governor, although then that is much less federally focused.

She could run for President or take on the role for VP. If she were to be VP, I think it would almost guarantee she would be able to win the Presidency at some point. Although, if she joined an administration that caused a lot of baggage, like Harris received from being VP to Biden, then it would make that route more difficult.

  • Given the close margins I would say it surely played at least a part for Harris losing. Obama won by large enough margins that even if all the racists stayed home that he still won in a landslide.

If even 2% of the population would never vote for a women or a person of color then it was enough to have mattered when others are sitting home for other reasons. It’s certainly not the main cause of Harris losing as you pointed out, but when the margins were that close every vote did matter.
