  • Lots of animals can think abstractly.

What separates humans from animals is communication and tool use. Obviously other animals can, but none come close to humans in either category.

Books is a huge example of both. Humans don’t have to figure out complicated concepts each on our own. The Internet is that on steroids, someone on the other side of the planet can read this post the second I hit “reply”.

That exchange of information through tools is why we’re ordering Taco Bell thru Uber from the couch instead of still chasing animals till they pass out.

Whether or not that’s a good thing for us and the planet tho…

  • Since nothing is going to stand in their way, how can we make sure they are held accountable for generations to come?

All that needs done is America threatening to cut off funding.

If Obama hadn’t have done that, this would have all happened a decade ago

Biden openly said he’d never do that, and talked shit as VP when Obama did. Kamala said she’d be the same as Biden.

trump, depends on if someone bribes him more.

But if America gets a progressive president next with the courage to say “genocide is bad” and actually cut off Israel…

That will make Israel stop electing genocidal maniacs. The only reason they can vote for people like Bibi, is knowing no matter what they have the backing of America.

Without that, they wouldn’t constantly be attacking other countries.

It’s like if you had a annoying little brother that picks on everyone despite being small and weak, because if shit goes down, you protect them

Sometimes, you got to let your little bro learn what happens when no one else fights their fights for them…

  • I mean, people already are…

We don’t have a better definition for consciousness then “it’s what anesthesia stops” and we don’t have a better idea about what anesthesia does than “stops consciousness”. So it’s a chicken/egg thing.

The thing is, anesthesia works on everything, humans, animals, plants, even single celled organisms.

Literally everything is consciousness. Tomatoes even feel pain thru our most common definitions.

So yeah, people that claim to be vegan because of animal suffering are still causing suffering and pain to life, then ending that life.

You’d need to be some super specific type of vegan where you only eat fruits because those specifically evolved to be eaten in a symbiotic relationship with animals.

But like, I’m pretty sure that would just give you organic diabetes or something.

So everyone draws their personal line wherever, but none of us really have an “ethical diet”

  • Like, why did you manufacture this intractable problem by mandating clothing and shaming nudity in the first place?

You think humans invented clothing because of shame?

That’s completely backwards, we invented clothing for protection, and not seeing everything all the time led to shame when someone could see us.

Like, I’m pretty sure hermit crabs feel something similar to shame when they don’t have a shell, they need something to drive them to not only protect themselves, but to ensure they can reproduce and raise their young. That’s why humans instinctually get weird about exposed genitals and boobs, those are the most important parts of a human from an evolutionary perspective.

I get what you’re trying to say, it’s just you’re going about it completely backwards

  • You’re thinking of the DNC as a single entity.

    It’s not.

It’s about 400 people who vote for chair and vice chairs. And over time those voters as a group have become more progressive.

The chair has final say on everything, and is accountable to no one. Ken Martin could have done whatever he wanted, but he can’t time travel to before he became chair and enforce the DNC’s rules.

He choose the democratic path forward…

So I don’t understand why people keep hanging the sins of past DNC’s on his head. If you want to know what kind of leader he’s gonna be, I’m not asking for blind faith, he has a track record and all signs point to him running the DNC like he ran Minnesota for over a decade immediately before becoming DNC chair.

But imagine your ideal candidate becomes president 2028, and I show up and start saying they’re gonna be terrible because of all the shit trump is doing right now. If I told you it didn’t matter because they’re both holding the same office, I wouldn’t be surprised if people called me crazy…

  • And Americans don’t have the stomach for the years of passive resistance that will be required.

You’re imagining organized people coordinating to work towards long term goals nationwide…

That’s not what would happen. People would just progressively lose it and start crashing out. People can still rationalize that compliance might work out best for them for now.

But if they start killing people for resisting despite not knowing who they’re even detaining…

That makes it hard to deny that compliance is pointless. And after that it doesn’t take much for entire communities to make the jump to proactive defense.

trump’s not raiding cartel safehouses, he’s going after harmless workers. So that shows everyone that using violence to resist makes them prioritize others. But some of those harmless workers have kids who were born here and are legal citizens. But they’re Americans, and Americans are rarely harmless

Hell, look at how gangs took over the projects in Chicago, they’d straight up have snipers 24/7 and if any cops showed up, it didn’t take much for the cops to leave. Like, when push comes to shove, trump can’t just bomb downtown LA, and occupying America is practically impossible, even for the American military.
