As I suspected, it was just a play on “saved” as if I didnt go spend that same money on groceries and clothing for my kids.

Okay, I’ll bite. How would that work? My bank account is just a string of nunbers. It doesnt have a way to tell me how much I didnt spend on 3 years of hypothetical lunches. I buy all my groceries for our meals all at once, not through separate accounts for breakfast, “what would have been lunch,” and supper.

A couple of years ago, I was working way too much and I lost the habit of eating lunch. It turns out I don’t miss it that much. I just dont eat a meal, sometimes maybe a handful of chickpeas or something if I feel like I need the energy. I lost about 45 lbs through this somewhat accidental intermittent fasting.

I have to wonder how much money I have saved by skipping one meal a day for years.

I do the same thing with Aldi, and more often the other (say it with me): Kroger.

I could only dream of rocking that look she has going on. Although I am roughly twice her size, I would still not want to rely on a machete for anything more intensive than clearing a campsite. I do have one just like hers, for such an occasion. For more serious social purposes, though, I prefer a ranged attack.

In her case, the ensemble and melee weapon seem more about her own empowerment and signaling she isnt in the mood for any bullshit. It sucks that she feels like that shit is necessary. As a girldad who grew up in the Full House era, I sympathize and hope she can feel (and be) safe.

Uhhh… custom turn-by-turn from mapquest is a pretty recent thing. I used to use an atlas supplemented by more foldy-uppy paper maps and even occasionally stopping to ask for directions.
