  • Its funny, I just think I have a thing for the underdogs. So I was always drawn to GOG, their stance on DRM-free gaming and games preservation in general don’t hurt though, of course!

Its taken me until now to even really look at Steam, even for my Steam Deck. I will admit, Steam’s cloud saves and pre-shader compilation is a blessing to game with.

  • Plenty happened!

But, yes, that too. I laughed, so many posts have the title ‘rival devices’ supporting Steam OS and I just have to wonder…is that what they really think?

Hard to imagine more devices having Steam there, giving Valve that sale-per-game money being a bad thing.

But again, these huge news pieces are done to death by the time I get around to them with my weekly posts. I can’t see what I can add, unless I find anything else fun about them!

  • I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

And even more so that you’d trust it would be worth a read purely because my other posts have been a nice read! That is so nice to read - thank you!

I find I check in with Gardiner’s blog each day now, I love clean and ‘pure’ sites and articles where the intention isn’t affiliate links or ads, or begging for new Patreon supporters…just the topic at hand!

Again, thank you so much :)

  • Sometimes (often) those ‘latest’ builds don’t work so well, and things break. Its a classic problem which plagues EmuDeck, and why long-term users warn people

if things are working, don’t update!

That very thing which annoys some people - no bleeding-edge latest updates on emulators, to me is stability and a relief. I trust the devs of RetroDECK to update only when things need it!

And I also have it all on my SD card! Its the best idea, roms, emulators, bios, mods, texture packs. I like how it keeps things organized and clean :)

  • I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed these!

Keep an eye out, I try make them weekly, though in the past it’s gone as few as two days between posts (generally though, I try make myself wait and hold off to give it a week between them!) - so there’ll be more coming :)

I’m so glad you’re getting a Steam Deck, you’ll love it! They’re easy if you want to just…start installing games without tinkering, or you can dive in and find all kinds of fun things.

As to GOG and Epic (and even Amazon) look into:

…there are others, but these two I swear by.

As to emulation, the default idea most have is EmuDeck, but I by far recommend

…but if you ever have any specific questions, or want help or a guide to anything, reach out to me. I kinda live/breath the Steam Deck - so I’m always happy to help!!!

  • There was talk of a site, but last year-ish someone started taking the designs (which for some was an issue, and for some it was not since they’re made using Nintendo’s assets after all) and selling them on etsy.

So that site never quite got up and running, with the community fairly divided. GOG has a forum thread for their community made covers, and I think Reddit has a sub for these covers of Nintendo ones, too.

Sadly no central site though, that I know of all least!
