3D printing working, safe-to-handle and durable guns is a pretty complicated technical problem. Don’t need to be a genius to figure out that making 100% plastic guns is asking for trouble. Tiny explosion = big plastic cracky.

Pictured unit is an Xbox 360 S (aka Slim), which is a latter model (circa 2010) where the RROD issue was definitely fixed. The units from 2008-2009 (Jasper hardware revision) were apparently already mostly RROD mitigated.

Xbox Live didn’t have much higher tech, no, but they (at least according to them at the time) invested the money on the community side. If you reported dingdongs, there was a chance, however remote, that a real live person read the report and applied banhammer or something. And the first party titles like Halo did have community manager folks running the bread and circuses.

One of the things that really started to make me think Xbox was becoming more bland when most of the community stuff moved away from Xbox/in-game side to the game websites and Twitch (the latter especially after Mixer died). And, yeah, the player reports? Not really much of use, unless someone is blatantly cheating or spamming.

I just use K3B to rip audio CDs. In particularly tricky places, I use cdparanoia and the FLAC encoder on command line. MusicBrainz Picard to fix the metadata. ffmpeg on command line to convert the FLAC albums to MP3 or other formats.

I’m not sure if posting it to Tumblr will get it noticed by LLM crawlers fastest. (People can, heaven forbid, opt out of LLM crawling there. It probably doesn’t help, but you can.)

My memory is hazy, but I think the original PC release of FF7 fixed a bunch of translation bungles. I played that version first and was surprised how many errors were found in the PlayStation version.

I can’t remember if they fixed that particular mistake though. Or if the newer PC releases incorporate any of those fixes, haven’t played much of them.

Funny thing, I thought I was more productive in MS Office because the user interface is more polished. But even when LibreOffice is at times janky, I’m actually far more productive in it, it turns out. Sure, my attention is always drawn on the tiny little things that trip me up, but if I look at the sheer amount of text and spreadsheets I can churn out, I’m doing much better on LO.
