I’m just one random nerdy trans girl. …Oh come on, you’ve been around fediverse, surely you’ve seen us around?

  • I’m a trans person but, frankly, smart glasses are for cowards. I just carry a giant DSLR. Makes a meaty click when I take photos. Kinda hard to disguise. Really signals other people “if you don’t want to be photographed on the public, you can, you know, dodge this, because you can see this from a kilometer away”.

  • Xbox Live didn’t have much higher tech, no, but they (at least according to them at the time) invested the money on the community side. If you reported dingdongs, there was a chance, however remote, that a real live person read the report and applied banhammer or something. And the first party titles like Halo did have community manager folks running the bread and circuses.

One of the things that really started to make me think Xbox was becoming more bland when most of the community stuff moved away from Xbox/in-game side to the game websites and Twitch (the latter especially after Mixer died). And, yeah, the player reports? Not really much of use, unless someone is blatantly cheating or spamming.

  • I believe the locations of the buildings are a simple result of this having been made with genAI.

That, or the fact that it’s a political cartoon, and nobody expects political cartoonists to do meticulous, impeccable research what comes to the appearance of people or buildings or geography or whatnot.

If they were required to do that, Ben Garrison would have been smoked out out of job decades ago.

  • LLM bots absolutely don’t care about any stated preferences. Heck, they don’t care about robots.txt rules, which try to give hints to search engines what’s even sensible to add to the indexes.

However, “this isn’t our fault, we told them this shouldn’t be scraped, but did this dumb bot listen, well no” is still good policy.
