    The photo is great!
But is it worth that kind of effort?
Why do this to yourself? Just to know you can?

We do sled dog tours, this was the first time we had such a temperature during this overnight trip. When it is -20 or warmer, it isn’t so bad.

        That sounds like fun!
        Still cold as hell.

If you’re moving and it’s not windy -20 doesn’t sound that bad. -35 sounds pretty brutal. -20 would also be pretty rough if it’s windy.

I’m a yank whose been stuck between daily highs of 0 F (-17 C) and 15 F (-10 C) for the past month. It’s always amusing shoveling my driveway in the evening after the kids are asleep and I start taking off layers due to body heat + sweat despite it being properly cold. I can’t imagine trying to dress appropriately where you can’t easily retreat inside and try again if you got it wrong the first time. I imagine that sweat is the enemy when you’re out in the elements like that.

Outdoor Boys on youtube has a bunch of videos of extreme cold camping, same setup too w/ a hot tent

Sometimes the “why” in those videos is a multi day hunting trip or a wood cutting trip

I’m looking to get into winter camping. So far the lowest I’ve done overnight was just 4 or 5 degrees below freezing. No stove, just a hammock.

It’s exhilarating. I’ll do it again just for the fun of it.

Nothing like waking up to a half frozen water bottle (always keep your filter on your person, so it doesn’t freeze and make you sick).
