    I think a lot of talk of ‘balancing budgets’ tends to be pretty childish. Politicians like to make the comparison between a household budget and the national budget because it’s easily digestible, but on closer examination comparing the budget of a person and the budget of an entity that A) can create it’s own new money and B) is immortal and can use inflation to it’s advantage doesn’t really hold water.

    But putting all that aside, I happen to remember the previous government this guy was a part of and their fiscal record. The Harper government ran deficits almost every year it was in power. It finally balanced a budget in it’s final year by holding a fire-sale of public goods. Like selling your car to pay off your credit card for a month. So you’ll have to forgive me if I think this guy is blowing a lot of hot air.

      I agree. But if we’re being completely honest, Pollievre is a populist. He’d sell his soul to the devil to be PM.
