The aim is to have a qbittorrent setup combined with a service like plex (or jellyfin?) to easily stream music, movies and TV shows to my mobile devices.
Is there a comprehensive guide or list of good software and hardware one could use to accomplish such a thing?
What I know/have already:
- Good, paid VPN: Mullvad
- Mediaserver software: Jellyfin
- Torrenting software: qbittorrent
- ???
Would suggest jellyfin over Plex due to the latter’s increasing corporate greed.
- Radar - for movies
- Sonarr - for series
- Prowlarr - for indexing
Optional:
- Jellyseer - a nice frontend for the above
- Bazarr - subtitles
This is a super simplified list, but the wikis are easy enough to get started with.
Edit: cjf has listed some useful links for the same
Mobile alternative (Android) frontend: NZB360

Thank you a lot! I’ll look into it!
You’ll want to look into the *arr apps.
Specifically… sonarr, radarr and prowlarr.
Wiki is: https://wiki.servarr.com/
Also, jellyseerr looks like a nice requesting front end https://github.com/Fallenbagel/jellyseerr
I haven’t used jellyseerr as I use a VPS that only offers Ombi, but that’s pretty good too.
It’s most likely easiest to use docker to spin everything up.
Don’t use Plex they regularly screw over their users.
Go for open source, go for jellyfin, it’s awesome
I would suggest airvpn over mullvad as they allow port forwarding, which will make torrenting work better.
Don’t forget Prowlarr for managing trackers and downloaders across all of your Arr suite!
I like Unraid for the server operating system. It is a paid product but very easy to use. You can run all of the ‘arr’ apps in docker. The docker installs are done from their Community Apps store.
Hey man can you elaborate on this? I’m trying to set up an automated media server on unraid. (I need a tutorial or something) thanks in advance.
I believe SpaceInvaderOne is considered one of the best at explaining the setup:
