Let’s say I joined through an English-only instance but want to start a community in German, which would ideally be over on feddit. Is that possible, or do I need to create a local login over there and then add my off-site account as moderator?
do I need to create a local login over there and then add my off-site account as moderator?
That’s pretty much the only way. Which is a good thing, otherwise, everyone would make their communities on lemmy.ml, and we’d have centralisation entrenched in to the whole thing
Got it, thanks! The question came up since I’m registered with a single-purpose instance (as far as local communities are concerned) and since we don’t have a clue whether we maintain it in the long run, I just don’t feel like migrating some of my larger reddit communities over.
You could also ask a user on the particular instance if they could create the community and then transfer ownership to you. (So if you really want a community on Feddit.de, you can send me a direct message with the desired community name ;)
Haha, thanks for the offer! Was just a general question at this point. but I’ll keep it in mind :)
I don’t even think you can create communities in another instance. I can see the button to do it only for your current instance so yes, you would need to create an account over there and then create the community.
