I use both Threads and Mastodon. However, I realized that sometimes (public) profiles on Threads don’t show up on Mastodon and vice versa. I also realized that most comments made on Threads posts don’t show up on Mastodon – that is, if the posts appear on Mastodon at all. The same is true the other way around. Why does this happen?

I think on threads, you have to opt-in in settings to be “part of the fediverse” and not everyone is enabled it for whatever reason.

Oh, that’s interesting; I had no idea. I’ll go to my Threads profile and check it. I’ll edit this comment later informing whether there really is that option.

Edit: The only option I was able to find was “Suggesting posts on other apps,” and when I clicked on it I only had two options: Instagram and Facebook – none of which are part of the Fediverse. I wasn’t able to find anything on 'Meta’s Accounts Center’ either.

In threads app, I clicked over to the profile tab (or, my account page, idk)
Two unequal lines in the top corner (wtf, why isn’t it a hamburger menu-icon),
Took me to a page called “<- Settings” (oh, uh, not sure how I got here without a gear icon; am I old now),
        Clicked down to “Account”
And there should be an option, “Fediverse sharing beta”

Am US based though. I’m not sure how meta filtered accounts they opened that feature to, if you don’t have it.

Where are you based? I think this is not available in the EU since Zuck wants to punish us for being privacy focused and threatening his exploitative business model.

I think so too. And I tried to do my research before making this post, but I wasn’t able to find anyone bringing this issue up.
