My Grandfather recently passed and I found this 1960s Seiko while going through his stuff. It doesn’t tick, nor does the day/date wheel change but I’d love to get in running again to remember him by. I reached out to a couple local watchmakers for servicing, but they said finding parts will be very difficult and likely very expensive so they essentially turned me away. I also looked into a few vintage Seiko service websites and they quoted me at $400-500 for a complete overhaul.
Would it be possible to just completely swap out the movement for an off-the-shelf one like the NH35? I know that might seem sacreligious to some, but I’d rather have this running and on my wrist than sitting in the watch box.
Thanks
