Hi Everyone,

Any recommendations for platinum watches? I am hoping to find a watch which has a platinum case and platinum bracelet. Only requirement is that the watch dial is symmetrical (preferably no date).

My interest in platinum started when I wore a platinum ring, I really like the weight of it. Recently, I tried a White Gold Daytona and was surprised by it’s weight. That brought me to search for a platinum watch!

I have done some search on brands which I am familiar with (e.g. Seiko, Grand Seiko & Credor) but I couldn’t find one which has platinum case and platinum bracelet.

Some background on my collection, I currently own mainly Seiko watches (Diver, multiple Astrons, etc) and a Grand Seiko (Jade Iwate SBGW255). Looking to acquire a Lake Suwa (SLGA007) in the near future but I am also looking for a platinum watch to diversify my collection.

Daytona is the most practical full platinum option, I mean it’s literally called the plat. Of course that’ll cost ya about 100 grand. for 10-15% of that you can get a yachtmaster which I feel more tastfully uses platinum for the bezel, not bracelet.

I agree! I am a big fan of the Daytona (yet to get one), especially after trying the WG Blue Dial Daytona. Ignoring the price being out of my budget, I actually prefer if they have more options to dial colours. I didn’t know about a YM having a platinum option, will definitely take a look. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have a particular budget in mind? No platinum watch+bracelet is going to be cheap but there’s still a good bit of difference between various models.

Unfortunately I have a budget in mind, probably 20 - 30k USD. I am open to any brand and models as the mainstream ones are definitely out of my budget. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately don’t know any watches at that budget without a date. As ridiculous as it may sound but that’s not a lot if we’re talking about watches with a platinum bracelet. So your options are already pretty limited.

The ladies DJ, that was already mentioned, would be the primary choice. At the upper end of your budget an older 36mm day date (118206) would also be a possibility.

Got it! At least this confirms my research that platinum bracelets are rare. I was afraid that I am missing something.

The datejust platinum sounds interesting, will take a look at that

I’ve always quite liked the parmigiani fleurier tonda and the PFC914-2020002-200182 includes a lot of platinum. Case, bracelet, dial, bezel and rotor all made with 950 platinum.

It does have a date but since it’s located at 6 o’clock the dial still looks symmetrical. It does gave a very monochrome appearance. Which can be a bit hit or miss, depending on your personal tastes.

Ah yes I came across parmigiani while looking at other watches. Unfortunately the price is out of my budget. Unfortunately I have came to dislike the date complication due to aesthetics and the hassle or setting the date (Astron watches are convenient!). Thanks for sharing!

There are no non lady’s pieces under 30k. Not even pre-owned.

If you want to go AD or boutique you have to look at a minimum of 60-70k.

Platinum is somewhat of the endgame when it comes to traditional watch materials. I’d recommend extending your collection with some better suited pieces, otherwise it wouldn’t match at all. The price difference is just too much.

You can get white gold watches for under 30k easily with a little less weight then platinum, but still a good feel.

Thanks for the advice, I guess platinum is something which I will look towards in the future, not now. Do you have any recommendations on White Gold watches?

White gold isn’t that bad when it comes to scratches. Sure you’re not suppose to wear it while working outdoors or something but it’s still a solid watch.

I can’t really recommend anything since there are so many watches and I don’t know your type. Do you have any preferences ?
