If you want/need smart features I hear good things about apple watch. Personally I don’t need any smart feature that apple watch offer, so I prefer a regular watch.
If you are active person and that’s a major part of your life then ironman might make sense. But for general smart clean outfits you’ll do better with an analogue watch.
By day-date I think you mean Rolex? If your financial situation allows it that could a good purchase. But usually student budget isn’t that high, so you might stand out from your peers(maybe not, depending on the school).
I think a more budget friendly analogue watch would likely be a better option in general. A good all rounder purchase might be something like Seiko SRPE55, which will go well with anything. But it doesn’t stand out style wise, so you might want to consider other options that works well with your general outfit style if you want something that stands out stylistically.
