I understand that teams in these contracts are paying for future production, not past production. If I’m going to give you like $100M, I’d like to have some past production. Patrick Williams has done some stuff, but like that’s just… if that’s the number, if that ends up being true and the Vassell deal ends up being the comp that his agents go to, that’s a lot of cheese.

He was the youngest player in the league when he was drafted and he missed almost his entire second year with injury. He’s still a huge work in progress. That doesn’t mean he’s necessarily worth 25m+ a year, but it’s not a surprise that guys drafted more recently have better production.
