Hi all! Just thought I’d post this new pickup for me: the Hamilton Railroad pocket watch. I visited the Lancaster Hamilton location (about two hours away from me) and couldn’t leave this beautiful piece there after seeing the antique ones in the cases. This is number 625/917 and I can’t wait to give it the love it deserves. The enamel dial is just beautiful! What are your opinions on pocket watches in 2023?

I think it’s pretty cool, and I especially like the railroad history connection.

I agree with the above commenter who said they can be a bit tryhardy. Big-time. A pocket watch in 2023 sort of screams affectation like “look at me, I’m cool and different because I have this vintage pocket watch. Did I mention I have a pocket watch? Oh, this old thing? It’s just my pocket watch”.

If it’s natural to you, it’s fine. That’s actually quite pretty. If it fits you, rock it. Don’t worry much about what others opinions would be about pocket watches in 2023.

So true for most! I actually don’t carry my phone on me most places. I was finding it way too distracting.

I like them, but they can be seen as a bit tryhardy to outsiders. Some days, you just don’t want something sitting on the wrists, and if you got pocket space, why not?

Imagine you’re in dinner with your friends, reach for the pocket, everyone expects a phone but it’s a damn pocket watch
