If you follow one of those teams closely you have an opportunity to be a Rep! Our rankers communicate throughout the ranking periods and try to be as knowledgeable as possible about their rankings. We want someone who would be very interested in this process.

Examples of power rankings can be found here. Before submitting an application as a comment below please read over the below rules and responsibilities of the reps.

Rules & Responsibilities:

  • Rankings will take the users as long as the users feel necessary, I imagine an hour might be spent doing this every two weeks. In some cases more, in others less.
  • Rank every team in order once every 2 weeks (this will be done on a spreadsheet so you should have some very basic knowledge how to operate one)
  • Provide a short paragraph about your team. Keep it two a sentence per game or less. Ideally you would talk about what is happening with the team instead of how they played in a game. The write up should be no more than 400 characters
  • Ranks will need to be submitted on Monday before 12 PM EST (noon)
  • Missing 2 consecutive voting periods or 3 over the course of the year will remove you from voting.

Application:

  • Write a couple sentences about what you like about /r/nba and what is something you would change?

  • Where would you currently rank the your team (must have flair) in a Powerrankings today?

  • How often do you come on /r/nba?

  • How many games of your team do you watch on average per week during the season? How many other NBA games?

  • If you weren’t selected, who would you select as a representative?

This thread will be in contest mode. PM me direct for answers to any questions you may have. Comments other than applications will be removed.

Applying for Hornets ranker. This is my cover letter, titled “The Hardest Road”:

/r/nba is a good place because at least 10%ish of the people here have a few brain cells, which is a major step up from other forums. And mostly all truly horrible thoughts and opinions get buried. And also the mods are very awesome and smart and funny and good looking. Every single one of them. Another great thing about this sub is that people here very rarely talk about the Hornets. Except for the past month or so, but hey I’m not worried. Things will go back to normal once our players stop losing their minds, being involved in murders, and/or posing a clear threat to women and children. Then we’ll go back to our normal brand of sucking quietly forever and everyone will be happy.

If I could change one thing about /r/nba I would make everybody say two nice things about the Hornets every day. And they’d have to mean it.

Hornets are 25th. I’d put them above the Wizards, Pistons, Spurs, Blazers, and Rockets. For now. Don’t worry fans of those teams, you’ll pass us by like everyone else as we stay in the same spot. And then next year we’ll have a whole new crop of teams that we’re very briefly better than. It’s the circle of life. And it moves us all (in the power rankings). Except for the Hornets.

I check here every day, unless I’m busy. Which is rare. I mean what else am I supposed to do with my time, watch a Hornets game? Oops, I shouldn’t have said that last part. I try to watch the Hornets at least once a week. And other NBA games whenever they’re on nationally. I’ll watch more if ranking actually becomes my responsibility, I’ll even get League Pass now that it’s cheap. But wait that means I’d have less time, so I guess I’d have to change my answer to #3…

I’ll be honest, I’m really taking a bullet for everyone here by volunteering to be the designated “Hornets fan”. That’s a title that nobody sane should want. So really you should just let me be the martyr here. And only one other person has applied in this thread so far. So if I have to choose my answer is them. And then I’ll just apply next year once they lose their mind.
