I want Giannis to get better in every aspect of scoring but it’s not very easy to do. However, I feel I will take Giannis with a 55/30/95 split over a 55/40/70 split.

It’s weird that as I debate which option I’d want him to have it feels like the result either way would make him less interesting to watch.

Honestly he might get more interesting to watch if he shot 95% from the line. Hear me out. Imagine how terrified teams would be to send him to the line. They would have to completely change the way they guard him, it would open up a lot for him.

This. The more a player is built to handle all facets of the game, the more boring it gets tk it might be interesting at first

Both would be fairly huge. Hell of a question. I think Giannis with 40% from three would be one of the greatest weapons in history. DPOY with KD level 3 point shooting on top of already being a good passer and one of the greatest finishers alive. They’d have no choice but to foul him.

I’ll actually take 40% from 3. It changes the entire spacing of the court and if you foul him you still run the risk of getting in foul trouble.

      10 3s a game will give him 12pts, let’s say he goes to the line 10 times a game, he gets 14pts there, that’s 26pts on 50/40/70.

On 50/30/95 with same shots, he gets 28pts. It’s very close though.

You underastimate how easier the game would be for giannis if he can shoot the 3, it would open up driving lines

But you can’t leave him open, completely stops defenders from dropping. Especially if it’s 40% from three point attempts off the dribble. He can now blow by your big or fly past them

Give me the 40% all day. Imagine if you had to guard Giannis from three off ball. The Bucks’ offense would explode.

For his scoring average, I’d take the free throw scenario. If we’re solving for winning games, I’d go with the 3pt option.

The 3pt option also opens up a plethora of offensive looks that would be nearly impossible to defend in conjunction with Dame. Imagine opponents legitimately respecting him from 3…Dame and someone else would be wide open on back door cuts all game.

Neither is ever happening, but if he can ever get to 75% FT shooting it would totally change everything, and it’s much more realistic. And we’ve seen much worse FT shooters get to that level (think Drummond).

You’d need more context. Are we assuming the same shot distribution? Then 95% FT’s on 12 attempts per game is gonna have more value than 40% on 2.7 3PA per game

But if we’re talking 40% and he can take 6 threes a game even when contested then it’s gonna open everything up for him and make him impossible to guard.
