Like the title said, a player who used to be really good, sucked for at least two year for whatever reasons and now the perception of said player changed dramatically, if he came back to his old self or even marginally better than his oldself, can he win MIP? Like for example, hypothetically if Russ or Ben Simmons averages a 20pt triple double or 19/9/9 this season can they win MIP?
MIP is the hardest award to define among the major NBA awards. Feels like every year the criteria changes. Like if Ben Simmons actually turns back into an all-star/all-NBA caliber player I could see them giving it to him because it is a good story.
I think they’d get votes but doubtful that person would ever win
I think if Ben Simmons is basically the same player he was during his last full season on the 76ers he could win it.
