We have a traditional thermostat in an awkward to reach place, so I’d like to replace it with something I can stick to the wall.
I’ve got a few shelly devices running already, so the Shelly TRV comes to mind, but that only takes care of the receiving end. Ideally I want some kind of simple rotating knob or slider, battery powered and connected to wifi.
I have home assistant set up so anything that works with it is fine, though nothing that requires a cloud connection. I’d very much like to keep it budget friendly, so avoid fancy displays or even touch screens etc. Just give me something I can physically grab to crank the heat.
Well, you are talking about analog, “moded” devices (rotating knob, slider). By that, I mean, they have a single spot that they can be at any time. The slider at the top is the hottest, and at the bottom, it’s the coldest.
But how does that jibe in any way with a smart device, which is almost always “modeless”. It can take the temperature by requesting it. It can change the temperature electronically by sending a “change temp” sequence. But it has not way of moving a physically-moded switch.
