Hi guys… Here am new to IEMs… I got my Truthear hola a week before. After 6 days of usage I got a (Otomycosis) fungal ear infection and also noticed pain from beginning of the usage. Am on Tropical area here we can’t live without Celing Fans and AC’s.So the nature of iems to block airflow inside Canal right…That may be the cause?

Does anyone have faced this issue? Is there any breathable Ear tips? Yes I need to compromise in Low sub bass. But I don’t want to damage my ears.

Im playing at 6-8% in Windows, mainly playing L4D2 rn, in-game volume is even lower (around 2/3 sfx volume), i assumed that it’s because of my IEM hygiene, i forgot to clean my most used Zero since it’s for gaming, always use it for a long period of time and didn’t remember to clean afterwards. Extremely regret now since the pimple/acne kinda block my ear canal.

I had custom silicone eartips for my IEMs. I wear them 24/7, so 8 hours at a time without removing is pretty standard for me.

Silicone would get sweaty and slimy and I would get infections that went away if I washed my ears out and let them dry.

Switched to foam tips that I change at least 1x day. I have 4 pairs that are washed, dried and ready to go at any given moment.

You have to be constantly changing them. When I only had one or two pairs of foam tips, I’d go 3-4 days of the same tips and I’d still get infections and the foam was sticky and waxy

15 years of IEMs, never an issue. It can be a lot of things. Climate, hygiene, local microbials of the region, and cleanliness and care of the IEM itself.

Did using anti-fungal eardrops not help at all? Clean ur eartips with soap and water and dry them out before wearing. Or sanitize everything, this isn’t common here and I’m from a tropical country too.
Maybe ask the doc if iems would cause this issue and if cleaning it would mitigate the issue. Hearing loss is a serious issue I don’t think u should ask us for advice haha
