Hi remarkable people,

I have a question. I used remarkable for four months earlier this year but then I moved to onyx boox note air 2 plus as it offers good PDF reading experience. I love my NA2 plus and use it daily for my notetaking and pdf reading. However, I have constantly been bombarded with ads from remarkable whenever I consume social media. It’s tempting and I want remarkable again, even though I know it will certainly be a downgrade as pdf reading experience on rM2 was mediocre (which is my primary reason for using eink).

I left rM2 at 3.3 version but I see some promising upgrades in recent 3.8 beta. Is pdf reading still the same on rM2 device? Should I really buy it again?

I must say, they have really great advertising campaigns and a perfect marketing strategy.

Yes, it’s crazy how their marketing works. I get ads now for months, sometimes more sometimes less. I want to buy a boox and looked into it recently and less in remarkable but I haven’t seen a single ad for boox, only remarkable.

And this is exactly the effect they want to reach. They just present it 1000 times and then you think you need to have it. In the end really ask yourself if you REALLY need to have it and if you want to be tricked into it by a marketing campaigns even though you are happy with your current device.

This is it EXACTLY! I have a Supernote that I love, but the RM2 is so sleek. The Supernote looks like a kids device. I keep being tempted. Almost have pulled the trigger twice and then think, “ok dummy. List how the RM2 is better than the SN for you right now”. And I can’t. It’s just pretty.

226ppi of rm2 successfully stopped me every time I feel the eager to buy it, tho I know it shouldn’t make much difference from a normal read and write distance.

as someone who tested both supernote and rm for a while before deciding to stick with rm, rm offers much more stability software wise than sn. ratta is great at adding new features, but bad at cleaning up the exisiting features. i just want a reliable notebook that wont slow down in a meeting or take forever to sync. i also got tired of updates that changed the ui for no particular reasons, forcing me to readjust to a new layout every 3 months. just a different opinion out there

i do agree that rm’s targeted ads are creepy, but i believe that they have a very mature product that really has no conpetitors out there yet in terms of acing the basics of notetaking

I really like the organizational features of the SN but getting notes and docs off the thing is a PITA for me. I do not use their cloud sync at all and just copy to USB drive and move manually. But the individual page export is killing me so I just don’t. The RM looks so simple to move notes off but I still won’t use any cloud service. Can I move on a USB with RM? I haven’t had a problem with stability in the SN software? The only feature I wish they would drop is customizing the bar so I can have options I USE rather than 3 pen options and then have to dig in the menu for Templates, that I change many times a day. Opinions….

yeah, zooming in and out on pdfs on rm is still awful, and i dont see that changing anytime soon. i personally use two devices: rm as a notebook, and the old sony dpt for pdf reading and annotating. it also makes sense to have two screens and avoid having to switch between note and doc all the time. my point: only get it if you want to use them in conplementarity, not to read column pdfs on rm
