I am curious as to everyone’s favorite watch with day/date dials.
I feel like I’m in the minority, but I personally like the day display with the date. Bonus points for more affordable brands, as I know there are some beautiful IWCs and JLCs with day/date displays.
Hamilton Khaki Pilot. Love how the Day is fully spelled out at the top with the date at the 6 feels so symmetrical
I really love my Breitling Aerospace, but I have recently been wearing this cheap ($100) solar watch. I bought it off Amazon in 2016, It was [LAD WEATHER] Solar powered Time zone Radio wave Men’s Watch with Perpetual calendar but it isn’t listed there any more. The LAD Weather website shows most of their watches are sold out too.
My favorite day watch is my IWC Big Pilot. I wear it most of the time. My favorite date watch is my Cartier Santos, because girls usually like that design.
I know you didn’t ask, but my favorite night watch is my G-Shock for easy reading of the time when it’s dark.
I like how the Ball Storm Chaser pro dial looks with the day/date. The running seconds hand and Chronograph hands provide a bit to weight on the other sides of the dial, which is sometimes lacking in 3 hand watches with the same configuration.
That I’ve owned? Damasko DA38.
Love the look! That’s one I’ve never heard of
I’m a bit weird in that I don’t really like day-date, with a notable exception: I like a vertical day-date at the 6 o’clock. I seem to remember seeing one or two other models but can’t remember what they were, but my favourite vertical day-date is the Sinn 105 non-UTC:
That’s a really cool way to do day-date. ALMOST cool enough to make me buy a day-date (but not quite, I really hate feeling obligated to keep the date and day set correctly)
Yeah as I said normally I steer fully clear of anything with a day complication and I’m not at all fond of either the traditional 3 o’clock placement due to massive asymmetry, nor the Hamilton style of writing out the full word at 12 o’clock. But there’s something about what Sinn has done here.i think it’s the only one I’d consider.
(I also like the UTC model of the 105, which does not have a day complication).
Orient kamasu, for a really affordable one.
Seiko 5 sports/SRPD.
I like the classic 7750 day/date layout.
Khaki King
All the more interesting/exotic dials of the pie-pan Rolex 1803 are a go for me.
If you can find one, Mido Ocean Star Captain IV.
So clean!
