Hi Everyone- I am looking to see if anyone has ideas for a few automations for our dog. He’s a very BIG American Bulldog and he is also verry slobbery. I am always chasing him around the house with a towel to wipe him after he’s done drinking and eating. I just bought a Braava M6 and created an automation for it to clean the area that he eats in so that the slobber is cleaned on the floor.

HOWEVER, he still walks around the house with food all over his face and dripping water. I would love to make an automation to where I can get notified when he’s done eating so I can catch him before he makes it too far to wipe his face. Any ideas? I was thinking a motion detector but not sure if it will set off when anyone is in the general area and be useless. Also I would need to know right when he’s done, not after he’s walked away.

Also, he is always eating the cat’s food. I was thinking of putting a motion sensor by her food but it would go off if she’s there too, and if anyone is in the general area in our kitchen I’m thinking. Any ideas there too?

Lastly, he tends to jump on our bed/chair in our bedroom when we are gone. We have a camera that tracks motion but unless we are keeping a close eye on the camera it’s hard to tell when we are getting a notification that he’s moving, or if he’s jumping on the chair. We have one of those spike mats AND a mat that makes a noise. NEITHER deter him! Would a motion sensor work that I only activate when I’m gone? Anyone try anything like that?

Thanks!!

In my opinion, deterring him from jumping on furniture is not something you want to do, especially if you are trying to form a bond with the dog. Nonetheless, you might be able to create an automation where motion sensor sends you a notification but only when everyone is not home.
