Nba league pass blackouts are so bs
Sure, I get that I can’t watch nationally broadcast games. But I live in Hawaii, and league pass blacks out Lakers, Clippers, and Kings games???
I live over 2,500 miles away from LA. There is absolutely no legal way for me to get the channels. (Some services MIGHT include the channels that have Kings games but its very hit or miss.)
I have a friend in Illinois tell me that Bulls, Pacers, and Grizzlies games are blocked out for him even though only the channel for Bulls games is available in his area. I mean seriously why would Indiana and Memphis of all places be blacked out? Memphis is a 7+ hour drive from Illinois.
Some of these blackouts make no sense and have stopped me from buying League Pass.
Yeah it’s total bullshit and the NBA is probably over this outdated practice that no longer benefits anyone (including the local broadcasters blackouts were supposed to protect… they’re all going bankrupt). Wouldn’t be surprised if the league just consolidates all local broadcasts onto one streaming service like Major League Soccer did with MLS on Apple TV.
