Had an argument with a friend about this. Who would you rather have on your team? Who is the better 5th player on their respective teams.

Depends if your team needs another guard or a forward

In the pelicans case I guess I’d take white

Wiggins was a huge part in why the Warriors won a chip.

Recency bias will be White, but lets not forget Wiggins missed a lot of time because of personal issues last season.

Seriously? Derrick can’t even defend male pattern baldness, imagine him trying to lock up Tatum in the playoffs like Wiggs did.

The year they won the chip Wiggins was playing out of his mind, bro was everywhere on defense and grabbing boards like crazy…WHILE STILL playing above his means on offense (considering his warriors role that is) I still haven’t forgotten. Bro was absolutely vital. I’ll take a locked in confidence boosted Wiggins any day

Last season he was away the last two months of the regular season for personal reasons, which also meant he wasn’t the same for the playoffs. That’s probably why some have forgotten how good Wiggins can be

Wiggins was the 2nd best player on Championship team, in the playoffs he was the man.

Right now probably white because Wiggins isn’t playing at the same level he did in 20/21 or 21/22 but if he does it’s definitely Wiggins.

As a Celtics fan, if we had last year’s version of White in the 2022 Finals, the Celtics likely would have won. In game 4, the Cs were up 2-1 and even had a lead with 5 minutes left. Derrick White, who was ass [offensively] for the Celtics his entire tenure up to that point, was a -19 and was 4/12 from the field. Andrew Wiggins was +20.

So it pains me to say this, but Wiggins showed up when it mattered most and White did not. Wiggins still clears White, but that may not always be the case. White is legit turning into a player literally every team would love to have on their roster.

One is a wing. The other is a guard. Hard to compare value when they play different positions.

It really depends on fit. On a team like the warriors where their best players are guards with unlimited range, an explosive/bouncy wing fits perfectly with them.

On a team like the Celtics, where their best players are explosive wings, a hard nosed, gritty guard fits best with them.
