Sure we are 3 games into the season, but in those 3 games the grizzlies are 0-3 with 2 home losses and a loss to the bottom-tier wizards, with Ja being suspended of course.

They barely went .500 without him last year (and beat like 3 playoff teams in the 21 games without him), and the stretch 2 years ago was a major fluke where the grizzlies coincidentally had the softest part of their schedule when Ja was gone.

Are they better than most teams without their star player? Yes. Are they better without Ja? No. And it’s showing right now.

Shoutout to Tyus Jones

What is there to admit? It was always going to be tough for the Grizzlies with Ja, Adams and Clarke out for extended periods, and then Santi and Kennard being out now too hasn’t helped either.

Which other team can handle missing 2 starters (an All-Star/All-NBA level talent, and then their most structurally important player) and 3 other 15+mpg rotation guys, and not be massively affected?

Biggest concern for the Grizzlies right now IMO is the amount of open shots that are being missed so far this season. It’s good that they’re getting the looks, but it’s becoming concerning that otherwise good shooters aren’t hitting open shots.
