I know it’s only a quartz but the design is kind of cool and it has a fun backstory. Not sure how i feel about the watch itself. Would be interested to hear other people’s thoughts or experiences with one of these watches?
IMO design is okay (personally I’m not into minimalism, though a lot of people like it) - I don’t like the bulbous end of the seconds hand, though I imagine people who wear the watches/are familiar with Swiss railway clocks are accustomed to it. I find them a tad (~15%) overpriced for a quartz movement.
I have a stop2go. Or whatever it’s called. It’s fun. Widly inaccurate because it a huge battery drain. But it’s fun. And great looking.
It doesn’t get anymore Swiss than that. Practically a design you see almost everywhere if you have ever lived in and on the border with Switzerland. Would go for the mechanical version but haven’t heard anything bad about the quartz.
Smart for Mondaine to align themselves with such a cool piece of Swiss horology history. I’ve never been to Switzerland but i’ve love to go.
Been to switzerland twice. The last was this year. Considering to get one for me and wifey (there’s a women version)for christmas / anniv
Cant hear the name without thinking “mundane”
Haha thanks for putting that in my head lol
Great watch! I have the stop2go version. So fun to watch the second hand pause, the minute hand jump and then continue on. No accuracy issues at all in my experience. Battery lasts 2-3 years, so a little shorter than a normal quartz. I love this guy!
Oh really that’s an interesting quirk of the movement
I’ve got one and I love the clear design and subtle night glow but mainly bought it for sentimental reasons as I used to travel to Switzerland regularly for work and always liked the station clocks. It’s not my daily but do enjoy wearing it occasionally.
Your friend is right, it’s a cool design
I’ve been thinking about getting one as well. Super cool look and love the backstory.
I had the 40mm automatic. Ended up eventually selling it for a couple reasons. 1) no lume at all, so not res,my usable at night. 2) the strap it comes with is really thin, stiff, and just low quality.
Belgian Railway Clock. I like it. Especially the master/slave configuration.
People like diff watches, it’s a personal thing. If you like it that’s all it matters. It’s a core mem for me in my trips to swiss so i hope to own one one day.
i think it’s a cool watch. i bought the black dial version with a brown leather strap but its been a regret for me. the white dial is the only dial to buy for this watch.
I had a few. A Mondaine was actually my first sale in watches. It was my kick-start. I still have a similar SSB for sale. Not a Mondaine but similar.
