As I get older, my eyes have betrayed me. I had 20/10 vision into my 40s, then after an accident that damaged my right cornea, I’m now 20/60. I can correct some of it, and my progressive lenses have a magnifying area, but one thing that never seems to get larger are the numbers on complications. I love my Oris Artelier Moonphase - but struggle to read the dials and have to take photos of it sometimes.

while looking for a new Moonphase I found the Frederique Constant Classic Manufacture 40m Big Date with power reserve. Love this watch. some people have commented that the date at 2-3 is off alignment. I looked at other classic Big Date and found this to be a common location, if not at 12 or 6. Watching the Making Of video didn’t lend to a mechanical reason. I’m glad the indices at 2 and 3 are intact instead of chiseled off and a complication stuck there.

Most importantly I can see the big date. I tried picking it off my Oris and Citizen watch yesterday and couldn’t make it out so I pulled out my phone. That right there convinced me I need to change something.

Now I swore to never buy anything from Elon musk and that would include his doppelgängers (vid 1), but I’m probably adding this watch.
