Me and my friend are having a debate. He’s saying the LeBron’s block was a goaltend because he trapped the ball. According to the rule book, trapping the ball is “…(To be a trapped ball, three elements must exist simultaneously. The hand, the ball and the backboard must all occur at the same time.” If you go into slowmo of the block, LeBron’s hand, the ball, and backboard are all touching each other simultaneously. The other argument that it’s a goaltend is that LeBrons left hand was touching the rim when he blocked it, but the rules say you can touch the rim as long as the ball isn’t touching the rim or going through the hoop. Is my friend right? Give me your thoughts.

    It’s not a goaltend because nobody would watch that block at any point in any game and think it’s a goaltend
