Need suggestion from experts.

I have few Rolex, 2 AP and One Patek in my collection. Usually i wear them rotationally as i have one watch winder with 4 slots.

Usually when we go out of city for longer duration, say 5-10 days, i keep the watches in safety deposit box.

We were discussing this yesterday with one of my friend he he suggested that there is no requirement of using watch winder as new watches work perfectly without winder. I was bit confused as i know from various sources that its wise to use winder to protect watches. But my friend might have good knowledge of modern watches as their family owns high end watch dealership here.

Any comment guyz?
