Once you release an idea to the world, turning around and claiming to own that idea is akin to slavery. Once you make art and release it to the public, it’s as much mine as yours, and I’ll do with it whatever I want because it belongs to everyone. Ideas are a part of people, and people should be free. Anyone who claims to own another person is evil.

I think you’ll find a lot of artists who’ve been screwed over by record labels (who commandeer your copyright), as well as indie artists who release under CreativeCommons or Public Domain who would strongly disagree with you there.

Everything I create is in the public domain, free to use not because I choose it to be, but because I cannot own it. How can you own art?
