Looking for a recommendation:

  1. Locksmith is trying to talk me into the Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth - the original 1st generation because they said it’s built better than the Assure Lock 2. Any thoughts on this? Which would you recommend?

  2. I see Mul T Lock makes a cylinder (KW-KIDYRL) for Yale Smart Locks. Would this fit the 1st gen Assure Lock, as well as Assure Lock 2? Has anyone tried replacing the cylinder with this on either lock?

  3. Other smart lock I was considering is the Schlage Encode Plus.

Thanks!

Personally, I had nothing but trouble with the Yale Smart Lock. The lock itself works. But integrating it with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth was terrible. $0.02

I have the Assure Lock 2. I can tell you that it is by far the worst z-wave device on my network. It constantly reports the wrong state, so I can’t trust it. Defeats the whole purpose of having it. I also have one connected to their stand alone module plug and it reports the correct state but will sometimes drop the connection.

I’m using them with Home Assistant btw. The state reports correctly in their own app, but I have to be within 5 feet for that to work because it relies on Bluetooth.

I honestly don’t think there is a great smart lock on the market right now. Because I want z-wave I would try the Schlage lock - I’ve heard it’s great but I don’t love the design and I want keyless.
