I received a request to source a very rare classic car for a client. This is my first time doing it, so it’s all a very new experience.
Long story short, I found the perfect car, off market for a reasonable price. I ask 3% commission. And the person on the sellers side asks 7%.
I’m not really sure how to proceed. The client wants more information on the car, photo’s etc. But I don’t want him to have enough information to double cross me.
Should I set up a contract before proceeding, should I just give him the information, what is my next step?
Set up a contract.
There is no way to make this deal and keep the two sides apart unless you take ownership.
Contracts are common in this sort of business.
You should also check to see if you are allowed to do this.
Thank you for your reply.
Would an email with confirmation of interest be sufficient enough to be legally binding.
(I am allowed to do this)
