if american: calling ACAB anything other than an extremely rational response to modern slavery is fucking absurd.
otherwise: ok yeah your cops are almost definitely better than American cops but I’m not convinced cops anywhere are a net positive to society other than maybe Scandinavian countries where the main form of punishment is legitimately rehabilitation focused
There is an enormous difference between “police should be held responsible for their actions” and “we should have literally 0 police”.
Believe it or not “ACAB” doesn’t mean the latter. Its just a fun little acronym. And just like all fun little acronym or protest chant, it doesn’t encapsulate the entirety of the movement, discussion, or belief(s).
I guess to me as someone who doesn’t often join in that discussion, ACAB does sound a bit like “no cops are good”. I think most cops are trying to do good, but I’d love justice to find the corrupt or politically motivated ones…
That being said I’m not American and haven’t had the pleasure of meeting that particular group.
I agree with the overall sentiment that people of Lemmy can take these ideas a bit too far, calling for death of…well, everyone 😅

Are you okay with having all of your stuff stolen? Because no cops is how you have all your stuff stolen

Sure but can you name a single protest chant that fully encapsulates the entire meaning of the movement?
