The Republican party is a cult - especially the cult of Trump. All these grifters selling hate to conservatives have made it that much harder to convince them when they’re wrong, and the odds of them doubling down on those beliefs when they are challenged get more and more likely the deeper in they are. There’s a point where it becomes almost impossible to pull people out of a cult and there’s largely no line that they won’t convince themselves that it’s okay to cross.

I think that’s where we’re at and have been at for quite a while. Republicans convince themselves that they’re the good guys fighting the good fight against whatever the party tells them is bad, and believe that their bigotry and hate is justified.

Yea but, you know the “are we the baddies skit”? That’s a guy who’s super deep into the SS and whose line is still intact enough to see all the skulls and shit and go “hey, wait, this all seems a little off maybe I’ll ask someone.”

I know some people who can be brought back simply because their leader does something they cannot ignore, and they can’t ignore it because there is no way to spin what’s being done that wouldn’t make someone with even half a functioning brain take a step back. Which is where I get into a weird place that I don’t love and that’s wondering just how stupid these literal billions of people around the world are. They’re barely more than animals the way they act, and that goes for all of them, from the US, to Africa, to Asia, and to Europe. The only line that can be crossed is direct, personal harm and they will still justify it for far too long.
