Not that I agree with it but I think they’re trying to eliminate players yanking the rim which caused a few delays last year from trying to fix/re-level the rim. Happened in a Celtics game, Nuggets v Heat, and in a Warriors game. Iirc, Warrior players were upset because it took so long to fix the rim, they didn’t want to play because their bodies had gotten cold.
