Markers/Styluses Roundup
There used to be a Wiki page with stylus recommendations. I wonder if something similar might be added to the reMarkable Guide
Anyway, the following are examples that I can say work with the tablets (rM1/rM2). And by “work” I mean they write fine as Fineliner, which I use 99.99% of the time.
(I posted a different version of this that had links to each marker, but the spam filters blocked it. So I’m removing the links from here. Most are well known, but I’m happy to post the links for any that you can’t find by name.)
reMarkable Markers
- Still have the rM1 marker. Still a fine marker. I wish I had bought the aluminum one (for $100!). Not magnetic.
- Had the Marker Plus but lost it. Worked fine.
- Have the basic Marker. Like it a lot. Same light gray as the tablet bezels. Magnetic, of course.
Tab S7 / S7+ S Pen Replacement Stylus Pen
- I like this pen. It’s narrow and light. No eraser. Has a non-functioning button. Profile is round with a flat part down the length. It says “SAMSUNG” on it. I found a Pentel clip that fits it.
LAMY AL-Star EMR Stylus, Digital Pen
- The coolest pen ever. I bought a graphite colored roller ball LAMY AL-Star pen and switched out the barrels. Way bigger diameter than the Marker.
FORERUNER Galaxy Tab S3 S Pen
- Cheap ($16), but a bit odd. It says “SAMSUNG” on it. It has a “rubbery” feeling. The profile is roundish but flattish on two sides. Built-in metal clip. Mine is slightly “bent” along the length. Has a non-functioning button. Maybe a good backup pen.
Kindle Scribe Basic Pen
- VERY NICE pen. It feels a lot like the reMarkable basic Marker. Charcoal gray. Magnetic.
HP 2EB40UT Smart Buy X360 11 EMR Pen
- It has the “HP” logo. Profile is round with a rubbery grip near the point. Slightly fatter than the reMarkable marker, but short. VERY lightweight–plastic. Built-in clip that’s part of the body. The “eraser” acts instead like the marker tip–it writes. But it moves when you press it.
BOOX Wacom Stylus Pen,High Sensitivity & Precision,Only for Max2 Note
- Possibly my all-time favorite, but I lost it and cannot find where to buy one. Six-sided and the same size around as a pencil–black plastic. It had a moving “eraser” that didn’t erase, but it DID register on the tablet as a finger press–my favorite feature. I’m hoping someone knows a source. I found a pen exactly like it (Acer Stylet EMR ASA640–don’t buy) and bought it, but it does’t work–it writes a few mm away from the tablet, even after multiple attempts to re-seat the tip.
It might be an idea to mention the nibs too as they make a big difference. E.g. whilst many do like the Lamy pen the nibs themselves are very different from the RM ones and many end up swapping them.
