Were all the times they’ve ripped on their movie Baseketball. As a kid my favorite show was south park and favorite movie was Baseketball and no one gave the movie any love and it pissed me off.

In my mind baseketball was on the same comedy level as dumb and dumber, caddy shack, and 20 years a slave. I thought at least the stars of my favorite movie would defend the movie but instead matt and trey have trashed it not only on their show but also in interviews. I felt abandoned.

Im in my thirties and I’m scared to rewatch the move in case even I think it sucks now. I’m all baseketball has left which is pretty pathetic. A thirty year old on reddit. That’s all that movie has to show for itself at this point.

My point is every time they trash it on their show I’m reminded of all this.

South Park laughs about every single thing in this world, especially religion, politics and “elders”. But will you abandon your faith, political views or age? …well, you can, but obviously not only because of a humor, jokes or catholic love for little boys.

      S08E03 Passion of the Jew

“This isn’t about the $18 ticket money anymore, this is about being able to hold bad filmmakers responsible. This is just like when we got our money back for BASEketball!”

The self-important, woe-is-me energy it takes to assert that you are the ONLY person left alive who likes Baseketball is breathtaking

Is 20 years a slave the sequel to 12 years a slave? And they made it a comedy? Sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out.

Is Baskeketball not considered one of the great sports movies of all time? Its not quite Caddyshack or Rocky sure, but its definitely up there with like Rudy and Miracle and Happy Gilmore.

Top 5 sports comedy for sure.

I honestly like it when they dog on themselves, even as a fan of Baseketball. If they’re going to dish it out to everyone in Hollywood it’s only fair that they’re willing to turn that around on themselves.

I feel sort of similar when Trey and Matt dismiss all of South Park Season 3 and earlier. Yeah sure it was fuckin stupid but it was unique to TV at the time, part of the transition from 90’s to 00’s and it’s why I started watching it. Issac Hayes as Chef? Kenny dying? It was all unique and funny back then.

And a lot of the SP since then is pretty crappy sometimes even if overall the show has staying power

Trey in particular seems to have a hard time knowing whether something is good or crap. Apparently he almost pulled the plug on several good episodes inc the Warcraft one. And yet Tegridy got a whole season

I hear you, man. Baseketball was one of my favorites growing up too. Comedy is subjective though - what makes some people bust a gut leaves others stone-faced. At the end of the day it’s just a movie, and we’ve still got the memories. Stay strong, Baseketball bro!
