I’ve been looking to get a nicer watch then I typically wear. My budget is $500. I’ve been leaning toward [Seiko]. I like the Presage and the Essentials collection. Should I purchase this directly off their website? Or do I purchase it somewhere else? Would it be a good idea to buy one that is from an earlier year? Something secondhand maybe? I’m very new to this and would appreciate any help. Any other watch suggestions would be appreciated as well.

I think buying Seiko watches in that price range, off the official website is the best way. A lot of Seiko watches come with a huge discount on the “gray market”. Maybe check out Jomashop or such!

Visit a store that carries watches in your price range and find a dial that catches your eye. If you don’t own any “nicer” watches there’s a pretty good chance you’ll see one that your brain latches onto for some reason. and chances are it won’t even be your maximum budget.

I think Seiko is great for that price range, as is citizen and Tissot. I would say try to find local watch stores or Macy’s to try things on, but you might find better prices online at eBay etc…/
