Have most of you heard of Kathleen Kennedy before this episode? I had not and am now wondering if this was common knowledge or if this is just animated tv/entertainment issue that has caught Trey and Matt’s attention?
Yes, but I’m into Star Wars
Yeah a handful of shit marvel movies ago, I went and watched some YouTube movie reviews and she’s a huge name in that pocket of the internet.
You learn her name really fast if you visit a sub where the sequel trilogy gets discussed a lot.
Or watched any of the numerous eviscerations (and not just the ugly unfounded bigoted ones) from YouTubs regarding the sequel trilogy.
All my life! She was usually listed as a producer with Chris Columbus for Amblin. You know, Steven Spielberg movies.
duh, we all did when the new trilogy came out
Somehow Palpatine returned
You can’t prove he was dead!! And it’s why Rey was able to become a Jedi in one years while it took Luke 10 years
They fly now?!?!
With a million star destroyers that were easily dispatched by the mounted cavalry
That was the Give Me My Moneyback moment
I saw it for free on TV and I still wanted a refund
Nope
Yes, I’d say it was unavoidable if you’ve followed the Lucas films drama over the last several years
Unless you are active in the Star Wars community you are probably lucky enough to avoid the… absolutely lovely discussions surrounding her. Just know Cartman’s characterization is not that far off to how some people can be when talking about her. Except Cartman’s a kid and I’m more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on being more emotional, even if he is a little hell spawn.
She was sold to Disney as part of the Star Wars package deal. That’s the first I new of her. Then she started ruining the franchise.
I hate The Last Jedi a lot, so I was pretty familiar with her.
That movie was so bad I completely gave up on Star Wars
Oh yeah we have. Her name became notorious with the sequel trilogy…
I had no idea. I didn’t really know pandering was that significant an issue. But I’m out of the loop with marvel stuff.
Honestly, it’s really not that big of an issue. There are like a small handful of instances in pop culture where it was literally “put a chick in it and make her gay” type of diversity implementations. But like the vast majority of it has been the ideal Stan/Kyle perspective of giving them a cool background and making it their own character.
This is such gas lighting right here. This has been a massive topic for 70% of the country. The only crowd who says what you just said are progressives.
Normal people are just scared to speak up that they don’t like it because they will be shamed and bullied by the progressive gestapo if they do.
You’re head must be so far up your ass or your under the age of 20 and you just don’t know any different (which is what they wanted)
This has been going on for the last 4 years at least.
I mean South Park even changed Token’s name to Tolkien… you didn’t notice any of this?
His name has always been Tolkien you’re being racist
What do you mean they changed his name? Do you really think a little black boy would be named “Token Black”?
You disgust me, you racist
It’s cuz they make the pandering the core priority while writing character development and creativity get sidelined. No one has a problem with diversity, they just don’t want it replacing putting in effort, which is exactly what it’s done
Are you also out of the loop for Star Wars, Disney’s live-action remakes, and most modern TV shoes and movies?
Kathleen Kennedy’s not responsible for all of them, but the pandering isn’t limited to Disney.
Yeah, I’m definitely out of the loop on anything Star Wars or Disney. Not sure about other modern TV and movies.
I checked her IMDB page and I haven’t seen anything she directed or produced since Signs. I know the old stuff like jurasic park and ET. Since, she’s involved in projects that never appealed to me. But I’m old.
Commercials, movies, tv shows, remakes, historical events… jobs, DEI in Government and the corporate world…
This use of force has been pretty hard to miss
I knew she was given the reigns at Lucas films but didn’t start paying attention till “The Last Jedi” shit all over the Star Wars IP. It wasn’t even about pandering. More just horrible writing and killing Snoke off for no reason and after giving him zero backstory.
It was a little about pandering to me - Disney pandered to China by putting Finn firmly in the backseat after setting up an interesting story for him.
But yeah the Star Wars IP has been horribly mis-managed by Disney. And it’s especially irritating to me as I actually quite liked TFA (as much as it was a bit of a ANH remake).
If you love Star Wars you’ve heard of that bitch
Yes, theres a number of people on YouTube who comment on all the changes that have been happening. Nerdrotic and Itsagundam are my favs.
