https://official.nba.com/rule-no-12-fouls-and-penalties/

An official may assess a technical foul, without prior warning, at any time. A technical foul(s) may be assessed to any player on the court or anyone seated on the bench for conduct which, in the opinion of an official, is detrimental to the game. The technical foul must be charged to an individual. A technical foul cannot be assessed for physical contact when the ball is alive.

So as the ball was live when Draymond’s shove happened (https://imgur.com/a/sbkQB1K), why did they assess the T for it retroactively? Flagrant or common foul if they did not think the contact was enough for flagrant imo.

Truly a Ben Taylor special.

Warriors fans seriously trying to litigate an ejection in a regular season game? Draymond earned that tech 5x over. Can’t scream at refs, can’t scream in Jarrett’s face and body block him from getting down the court, and you can’t shove a player in the back and send him into the stands.

Get over it. y’all lost but still have a better record than us. You’re a good team that doesn’t need Draymond to be such a dick

All you restarts in this thread make me want Kerr to just implement this strategy all the time and any time one of his players shoves another dude just point out some stupid shit that happened on the other end.

A technical foul cannot be assessed for physical contact when the ball is alive.

Doesn’t this just mean that they have to stop the play, before they assess if it should be a tecnichal or not?

Like, they cant just give a tecnichal for physical contact during a live play, they have to stop the play and determine the correct “punishment” first. Which they did, and then assessed after video review that it should be a tecnichal.

So I guess it’s indeed impossible to have a normal discussion about rules if it involves Draymond, lol.

Refs fucked up by giving him a wrong foul, then fucked up again by giving Spida just a common foul and it is a common occurence in this season (JJJ, Giannis ejections etc), but lets just focus on “Fuck Draymond”.

This is abundantly clear - I don’t like Draymond (or the Warriors lol but good luck tonight) but I like rules discussions / referee accountability. The downvotes you’re getting on here make it pretty clear everybody would rather just shit on Draymond / say “he deserves it no matter what!” than actually have a discussion about the rules.

I watched draymond nutcracker his way to the finals, stomp on ppls chest. I do not care if he gets fucked I for one enjoy the refs finally giving draymond what he deserves .

Mate Dray had already 5 offenses that could have been given techs. Obviously no-one is thinking the way this all went down was without error but eventually we arrived at the correct outcome, so you’re gonna have a hard time convincing anyone otherwise.

Yes it is impossible to have a normal discussion about rules in regards to dray because he literally breaks rules and gets away with it constantly.

        Cry bout it.

The irony of “cry about it” when you’re literally saying “we won’t talk to you /will downvotes you about this interesting wrinkle in the rules that may have been misapplied because I don’t like that guy and he makes me so mad!”

He also didn’t get fucked by the refs….there were 2 incidents right before this happened where he easily should’ve been given his 2nd tech but somehow got away with both of them. One of the times he drew a charge on Allen, got up, screamed in his face, bumped into him and kept screaming and somehow didn’t get his 2nd tech. Then 1 minute later he pushes Mitchell out of bounds

I love how you left off the very last piece.

EXCEPTION: Fighting fouls and/or taunting with physical contact.

Most likely they found it a fighting foul?

I mean the fact that Draymond will stomp on a dude’s chest and call the crowd foul names and still get defended by some players that tells you a lot. But most of us a kinda used to it, east teams probably aren’t
