As the title says, how would I know that I’d be classed as an amateur photographer? I’ve always had a passion for it and have been taking photos on my phones and disposable cameras since 2017, using editing apps, finding cool locations around my country to photograph, overall trying to get better at it with limited resources. I recently inherited a proper digital Sony camera from my grandad and have chosen to take Photography as a subject at my high school, so I’ve gotten used to working my new camera and building up a pretty hefty portfolio to be assessed in my end of year exams. Could I class myself as an amateur photographer? I want to include it in my personal statement as it’s relevant to the subject I’m applying for at university, but I’m unsure how to refer to my main hobby. Any help is appreciated :)
