I was completely hopeless, thinking this it. Lo & behold, the sound was miraculously completely normal, as if it had never been near any water to begin with. However, I am still very worried about internal corrosion that could bite my ass in the future. Is there anything I should be particularly attentive to?
I guess IEM’s may be more delicate than the average earphone but I accidentally left my apple earpods in my jean pockets countless times when they went through the wash and they were always fine, ended up dying maybe like a year later I’m assuming because the cables were fucked. Wires were visible and messed up from constantly being in my pocket. But I don’t think the washing machine had much of a play in their demise.
Someone might have to correct me if I’m wrong but I think if you take care of them as usual there shouldn’t be too much to worry about.
If there is corrosion you need to get rid of it as soon as possible, or it will ruin them. But with the way most iems are designed dont know how you would do that without damaging them.
I have no idea if there is any corrosion. It definitely hasn’t developed yet, as the accident just occurred today. I am not technically equipped to get rid of it either, so if it develops, then that’s gg. I made sure to dry it out as thoroughly as possible, so I’m hoping it’ll be fine. I am just still surprised, that there’s nothing wrong with the audio, though. It is as if it was never thrown in the washer to begin with.
all i can think of to warn you about is that you’ve got a good chance they’ll just die on you without warning. also the sound might go fuzzy
Yikes! And this is why I went with the IE 200s over the 600s. Im the guy that would lose or destroy these tiny things.
Honestly, except for detail retrieval they sound awfully close to my ears. And it’s rare I’m doing critical listening on IEMs. For balance with that "Sennheiser Sound " I also have the Letshuoer S12 Pro IEM. A great set of planar BTW. Those beat the IE 200 for clarity and detail–by A LOT–but lack that dynamic driver warmth. I switch back and forth.
That said, I would make certain you dried them out completely! I hope someone who knows how to do so properly can guide you.
Damn. Mine broke from just normal use and sitting in my draw. One earpiece randomly became muffled.
