I just bought this quartz doxa at an online auction for about 19$ (77PLN) and I really like it but it looks so so small.

The small size is why I like vintge watches and when I read it’s 31 mm in diameter I was like “ok, my casio is about the same size, it should be fine”. I also own a citizen that is 34 mm and it looks great on my not man sized 6 inch wrist. The seller states this is a mans watch and his women’s watches were all below 25mm.

Maybe it seems so small because it’s super think (around 5mm i think).

Overall, I like it but I don’t want people to think that I’m so desperate that I wear a watch for women.

What do you think? And why did watches get so big over time?

Oh come on, what stupendously insecure BS is that? Wear whatever the hell you want. You are an ultimate fool and weakling if you let the fear of other people’s opinions determine your legit personal choices.

In the 1930s through 1970s, or maybe even the early 1990s, 30-34 mm was absolutely normal for any man, certainly for vintage (inspired) pieces like the ones in your post. The ridiculous hyper-focus on large watches (and worse: those as a sign of manlihood: ??) is over its peak, and eg 36mm is coming into style again.

My guess is that the risk of you with your 6” wrist looking ridiculous wearing a 42 or 44 mm watch is way higher than these things looking effeminate on you.

Man up, wear whatever you want!

It will wear tiny, due to the case shape (you cannot compare the dimensions against the rectangular Casio). Yes, watches grew in size over the last decades. There was a time when a 36mm watch was “jumbo” size.

A 34mm Benrus is the smallest one I’ve had; I’ve read the specs of one or two with a smaller case size, I’m sure.
